Pam graduated from The University of Tennessee in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Learning and Behavior. She has worked in both public and private schools in various different roles.  She came to work in Bereans SOAR program in the fall of 2018 and is Campus SOAR Director.  One of her greatest desires is to instill in all students that God in his great wisdom and love created everyone unique and with special gifts and talents and to help them find out what he wants them to do with those gifts and talens.  She and her husband, Bill, have five children with the youngest two, Savannah and Braxton, attending Berean.  She is honored to get be a part of such a special program at a fantastic school.

Carrie Thomas graduated from Carson Newman College with a degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. While at Carson-Newman she met the man she had prayed for years for. Carrie and Dave have 6 children and an abundance of animals. Carrie taught elementary school until her oldest son was born and then stayed home with her children and homeschooled. She interprets for the deaf at the church where Dave pastor’s and loves the deaf community. Carrie is part of our Upper Campus SOAR staff. She loves being a mom and wife- and is excited to see all God has for her this year!

Holly Brummette joined the faculty of Berean in 2005 and appreciates the wonderful families and staff that she has met through the years.   She received her B.S. in Education from the University of TN, Knoxville and is trained in the Orton Gillingham method. She is an ACSI and state of TN certified teacher. She has experience teaching in public schools and adult education. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades for many years at Berean before becoming part of the Soar program in 2018.  Her aim is to help her students find the joy in knowing Christ and discovering the talents and abilities He has given them. She and Mark have four grown boys, a dog, and two cats. She enjoys reading, hiking, family time, and the beach. 

Beth Parker is excited to join the SOAR team as an ELA interventionist. She has
earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Early Childhood
Education and Development from the University of Tennessee. Beth and her husband,
David Parker, have been part of the Berean Family for many years as parents to their 4
children (Ansley, Weston, Aida Rose, Wade). She has several years
experience teaching in the public school system, as well as home-schooling her
children. Beth is looking forward to multi-sensory lesson planning, sharing her love of
great children’s literature, creating a love of writing, and encouraging students and
parents through a verse that the Lord has written on her heart: “Everything comes from
him, exists by his power, and is intended for his glory.” (Romans 12:36) She has a
passion for the Word of God and has enjoys sharing it with others through teaching
group fitness classes. Finally, Beth enjoys exercising, reading, traveling and spending
time with her family!

Rachel is so excited to be a part of Berean. She studied Special Education K-8 Intervention and Elementary Education at Carson-Newman University. She has a unique experience in growing up as a student of the Berean Christian School Independent Study Program as well as attending BCS. She is married her wonderful husband, Trey. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she really enjoys running, photography, and disc golf (she's still learning). Rachel is so looking forward to meeting each of you and building relationships as we move forward this year!

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Dance Education from Central Washington University in 2017. Rachel earned her Master of Arts in English Literature & Writing from Eastern Washington University where she also worked as an Academic Coach
supporting college students in their education. Rachel completed the Orton-Gillingham Approach training in July 2022 and is excited to be a part of Berean's SOAR program! Her goal is to nurture her students in a Christ-centered learning environment that welcomes students of all learning abilities. When not at work, Rachel can be found at home spending time with family or enjoying one of her many favorite activities such as dancing, reading, sewing, or hiking.

Lauren Williams graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2021 with a Bachlor of Science in Special Education K-8 Intervention. Previously taught my 1st year at another private Christian school. I am so excited to see what teaching at Berean will bring and the amazing children I get to work with each and every day. I am excited that I interact with the lower campus during the day then having the upper campus volleyball girls in the afternoon for practice. I am ready to spread God's overflowing love with all ages at Berean. I love learning, cats, coffee, and anything that has to do with being outside! 

Christy Clapp is our math specialist. She has been in the field of education for over 20 years and has her Master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. She is an ACSI and State of Tennessee certified teacher. She is trained as an Orton Gillingham teacher and has also been trained in Dyscalculia practices. For the last 11 years, she has worked with students who have dyslexia and dyscalculia. She found her passion while tutoring them and gives God all the glory for helping her discover her true calling. Jody and Christy have two children Daisy, 5, and Tucker, 11 who also attend Berean. Her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” She enjoys time with her children, laughing with friends and family, and traveling especially to the beach.
